Madisonville

Madisonville is where the Tchefuncte River spills into Lake Pontchartrain and where most of the local boats are harbored. Anyone who knows me knows I am a sucker for abandoned ships like this one... apparently a former ferry boat. There is also an old lighthouse that can be seen in the distance...
I also liked the road to the point.

  1. I found your blog via image search for abandoned ferries. Very awesome! I know this is 6 years old but is there any chance you know the story behind the ferry? Thanks!

  2. Okay, so I was wrong. A Madisonville historian tells me that it is "Not a ferry. Some sort of tug with sleeping quarters". She also tells me that it has been stuck to the bottom of the lake for many years, so stuck that it would be too expensive to remove.
