Sometimes you mention a scruffy trail to the river and someone doesn't feel safe exploring it. Later, she changes her mind and DOES want to explore it... but THEN, due to rain, it becomes impassable. Later still, when the trail is dry, she is determined to go down it, but THEN a sign unexpectedly appears warning that a mountain lion has been seen prowling around that very same area. Such is the conspiracy of events.
