As the story goes, a sailor gave the seedling of this Moreton Bay Fig tree to a local Santa Barbara girl back in 1876. Today it is one of the largest of its kind in North America. The tree is tucked behind the train station parking and quietly makes a huge statement. I like the train station connection... what else to do after seeing off a friend than walk around an enormous tree?
