trumpet vine and beautyberry

Many of us are familiar with trumpet vine (Campsis radicans), sometimes called hummingbird vine, but the pods? Can't say I'd ever seen them until now. This native of the southeastern U.S. is highly invasive and has worked its way north as far as New England.
Yesterday's other botanical discovery was the American Beautyberry bush (Callicarpa americana) seen below. Also a native of the southeast, the astringent berries are sometimes used in jellies and teas, and one compound found in the plant (callicarpenal) is a naturally occurring mosquito repellent.
