Part two of my visit was spent on the north side of Lake Pontchartrain, which is reached by crossing the Causeway, which at 24 miles is the longest bridge in the world. The crossing takes approximately 30 minutes. (image from Wikimedia Commons).
At the north end of the Causeway is Mandeville, a very pleasant, historic small city facing New Orleans, which on clear days can be seen faintly on the horizon. Below is the view from Sunset Point in Mandeville, with the Causeway in the background.
