Tarpon Inn

While we didn't stay in this historic inn, it was a great place to explore while waiting for pizza...
The wall of the lobby was covered with... tarpon scales. They looked a bit like potato chips. The scales were inscribed with signatures, the most famous being Franklin D. Roosevelt. Behind the front desk hung a tarpon itself. Never before has my awareness of this one fish been so raised.

  1. Fascinating place. It looks like the set of an old Humphrey Bogart film. Has real character. OK, Tarpon Inn is on my bucket list. Is it in Port Aransas?

  2. Yes, this is in the heart of "Port A" as they call it. There is definitely that old h.b. vibe. The Texas gulf coast has a very subtle allure...
