This big old Spanish fortress really has a presence. A piece of Old World construction dating from 1672, it speaks of an altogether different time and place than 21st century America. I can't believe I didn't see this on my previous visits.
The fort is perched on the edge of Matanzas Bay.
Also looking magical by night, the Bridge of Lions.
