
We dove through a section of the Florida panhandle called the
Forgotten Coast, which includes a string of barrier islands and lighthouses as well as towns such as
Mexico Beach,
Port St. Joe, and
Apalachicola.... I would like to explore this area a bit more some time.

This part of Florida has at least three things going for it: lots of
trees and
undeveloped land (there are even bears); a sense of
history (
John Gorrie, the father of air conditioning, lived in
Apalachicola); and
islands.
