Next to La Bellavia is a coffee house called Macy's, which I do remember going to back in 1994... the reason being that I stayed just around the corner at a youth hostel called the Motel DuBeau, which is also still there. All of these places are right near the train station.
Somewhere I did not stay back in the 90's, but set foot in because there was a nice restaurant, is the Hotel Monte Vista. It's a historic hotel with character and solid architecture, and is also said to be haunted.
The interior looked different to me. The restaurant was gone, or rather had changed, and there was a new coffee shop. But the desk clerk recommended La Bellavia, which was well worth the detour.
