Perhaps the crowning jewel of that glorious excursion through Golden Gate Park was the botanically and architecturally notable Conservatory of Flowers. Built in 1878, it is the oldest conservatory of its kind in North America, housing an impressive collection of rare, exotic and tropical plants.
