"U-shaped" hotels

This was the first of several "U-shaped" hotels we encountered in Texas. This one is apparently being restored.
Like California, Texas has a "Camino Real" or "King's Highway".

    I would say that California has a better symbol for its Camino Real. The bell beats this drab grave stone (or is that the Rosetta stone?) anyday.

    and yet this trip brought out an appreciation of the Lone Star state that I hadn't even thought possible...
