Sometimes your plane to San Jose is forced to land in Colorado Springs due to bad weather, and everybody on the plane stands in line to get dinner from Quizno's, the only available option. Then you are thrown on a bus to the Denver Airport, from which you can see the lightning storms and tornado warnings out the window. At the Denver Airport you have the choice of sleeping on the floor or eating airport food indefinitely until the airline is able to place you on a new flight the following day.
