We then continued to the famously beautiful Emerald Bay, which contains Fannette Island, the only island in the lake, where the ruins of the Vikingsholm tea house are found.
In the mountains behind Emerald Bay are the trails of the Desolation Wilderness and the Pacific Crest Trail, which runs parallel to the west side of the lake.
